MedicAlert® Medical Team
The MedicAlert Foundation of Great Britain and Ireland operates a
team of four medical professionals (three nurses and a doctor) who record
the Member's medical details on their files and check the information
contained on the Member's wallet card.
Information details on the reverse of a MedicAlert® Emblem have
been chosen by our own medical professionals (in conjunction with the
Member's wishes) to deliver the most pertinent facts in the shortest
possible time to their colleagues in the medical and emergency services.
The Emergency Line
- Additional medical/personal information on the Member, including
(where appropriate) details such as current medications, pacemaker
serial numbers, surgical history and contact details of both next
of kin and consultant physicians can be obtained by dialling the emergency
line number.
- Emergency and medical professionals who call the UK emergency line
number will be answered by trained colleagues who operate the line
24 hours a day, 365 days a year at the London Ambulance Service HQ.
- The UK emergency line number accepts reverse charge calls from anywhere
in the world in over 100 languages using a translation service
- Colleagues will ask the caller for the UK Member's unique MedicAlert®
ID number and perform a security check on the caller's identity prior
to releasing Member details.
- Legally binding advance directives and 'living wills' for those
MedicAlert® UK Members who choose to have one, are kept on file
at the emergency line and can be faxed to doctors attending the Member
